Bio

Ed Dickie is well known for his dramatic photographic renditions of coastal landscapes near his home on the Santa Cruz North Coast in California. From the ultra wide multi-image panorama to more detailed close up work, he casts his artistic net far and wide to capture both the familiar and the abstract. His style of working is spontaneous, playful and yet at times highly technical and planned. Ed creates his own prints and takes great care in translating his work from camera to print.

Ed was born in Southern California and moved to Santa Cruz in 1978. He studied at Cabrillo College for 5 years beforing entering the working world as an electronic tech, programmer, musician, car mechanic and a designer of sounds for modern keyboards for over 15 years. Now focused mostly on still images, Ed has exhibited his work extensively in the Santa Cruz area and currently is a resident artist at the Davenport Gallery in Davenport, CA. He was recently voted Artist of the Year in the annual Good Times Best Of Santa Cruz 2011 Reader Poll.
